Blog # 4 My Perception About The Old and New Generation

Nowadays, we are living in a world that has been changing all the time, so we have to adapt ourselves to the changes. We interact with a lot of people from different generations, such as our parents or grandparents. Consequently, there are many differences between our generation and our parent’s generation, which are communication, education, and lifestyle.
The first difference between people in the new generation and people in the old generation is how they communicating. People in the new generation are used to contacting other people almost immediately. For example, if young people want to contact their friends that are lived in different countries, they usually contact their friends immediately by using their mobile phones. Moreover, people in the new generation are focused more on communicating with their friends, colleagues and families. Teenagers in the new generation spend most of their time chatting with their friends on their mobile phones or chatting online more than doing anything else. On the other hand, people from the older generation accustomed to writing letters to contact other people that are far away. Furthermore, they like deal with other people face to face. All in all, people in the new generation communicate differently than people in the old generation.

People in my generation enjoy easier lives. For example, when some young people graduate from universities, they may not have to work immediately. They can sit around at home and do nothing because they parents are willing to support them. Furthermore, people that are my age are able to make up their minds spontaneously. They do not have to be concerned too much about their future plans. On the other hand, people that are my parent’s age tended to have harder lives and also they were born in a tough time. When they wanted something, they had to work really hard to achieve the things they wanted.

To sum up, people that are my age have more comfortable lives than people that are my parent’s age. However, every generation always has something unique that has its own advantages and drawbacks, but the most important thing that every generation gives valuable lessons to the next generation.

Blog # 2 Bridging the Gap of Generation Y and Z

If you are over the age of 40 and don’t understand all these terms, don’t feel too bad about yourself. You didn't grow up in the age of technology. And, be careful. These terms may not mean what you think they mean. For example, you don’t need a pair of scissors and a bottle of glue to cut and paste these days. However, if you are a parent, teacher or any person who cares about kids, then maybe you do need to be a little worried. While it can be overwhelming to understand the best way to provide technology opportunities for children in a world that is only going to become more technology-dependent, we must. We must find a way to safely and properly prepare them for a future that even they can’t imagine.

New research is being conducted every day to help us better understand the impact technology has on today’s youth. While it may still take years to fully understand these effects, one thing is already clear technology is changing everything. Experts in thinking and learning are also saying that overwhelming use of the Internet for research and study encourages users to dart between pages of information instead of concentrating on and understanding one source fully, such as a book, the way older adults learned.

This new type of thinking may leave some children incapable of the discipline needed to read and write at length because their way of learning has been altered. Technology may literally be “re-wiring” our children to think and function differently than any previous generation. Only time will tell. Cyber-bullying, identify theft and online sexual predators do pose real threats, but kids can be and should be taught to use technology wisely and responsibly. Parents and other adults must learn to embrace it, understand the social implications of its use and provide a safe way for children to explore and learn in this limitless world of information.

Blog # 1 Reflection

Nowadays, most of the learners have been totally connected to tablets, gaming system, smart devices and every sort of interactive technology starting. They expect nearly instantaneous answers and real-time responses. So, it makes sense  that they would prefer to learn in a blended environment. To keep this new age of learners from being bored and looking for the next "button to tap" I need to keep this digital lifestyle in mind and plan for how I use it to the student's advantage in the classroom.

Just because students use new online tools and content faster and with greater ease than we do, doesn't mean they pause to understand the risks of connections.Take time to teach them what is the best method we can apply. Help them understand online hazards, how to manage their personal information, protect individual/intellectual property, and what an appropriate "online connection" in social media and beyond.

Technology is just a tool but we teachers are the key for our students learning and success.
